The discussion blog allows for an ongoing, collaborative information exchange. Course participants respond to the week's assigned discussion questions via the comments section located directly below the questions.
To add to the discussion, follow these steps:
- Click on "Add new comment" and a comment window will open.
- Additional information about formatting your comment (e.g. bold or italic text) or using special characters is located directly below the comment window.
- Once you've completed your comment, click the preview button to review what you've written. If you're satisfied and ready to post your comment, click the green "save" button.
- Once your comment has been posted, you may still go back and edit that comment by clicking on the "edit" button.
- If you would like to reply to a comment posted by someone else, simply click on the "reply" button and follow the same instructions to post your reply.
Formatting your comments
The discussion blog allows HTML content. While learning all of HTML may feel intimidating, learning how to use a very small number of the most basic HTML "tags" is very easy. A table of tags that are enabled on this site is located just below the comment window.
In addition:
- Web page addresses and e-mail addresses turn into links automatically.
- Lines and paragraphs break automatically. If paragraphs are not recognized simply add a couple blank lines.
- Most unusual characters (such as ", &, >, <) can be directly entered without any problems.
- For more information see W3C's HTML Specifications or use your favorite search engine to find other sites that explain HTML.
